Breast Aesthetics and Breast Lift Surgery

Look at your breasts in the mirror. If your nipples are above your breast fold line, everything is fine. If they are at the level of this line, it can be said that you have mild breast sagging, and if they are below this line, you have advanced breast sagging. This means that one day you may need breast lift surgery (you can also use the names mastopexy or breast lift surgery). Especially the nipples facing down indicate the severity of the condition.

Aesthetic Breasts: Why Do Breasts Sag?

There can be many reasons for this. There is a decrease in breast tissue due to hormonal reasons related to aging. This causes the inside of the breast to become empty and saggy. The breasts of breastfeeding mothers are also more prone to sagging. Breasts grow when they are full of milk and empty with breastfeeding. When this is repeated many times, the breasts naturally sag. In addition, gravity pulls the breasts downwards, causing them to sag. In some cases, sagging begins at a very early age and is entirely due to the congenital weakness of the ligaments that support the breast.

    Can There Be Non-Surgical Solutions?

Unfortunately. There is no known method to lift sagging breasts yet. Do not think that breasts sag because the chest muscles are weak and they will become upright with exercise. Anatomically, there is no relationship between the chest muscle and breast sagging. You can achieve many improvements in your body with sports, but lifting the breasts is not one of them.

    Surgery: Cuts And Scars:

Breast lift surgery is actually an operation that gives very good results if done well. Of course, it is possible to reshape the breast, completely eliminate sagging, and enlarge or shrink the breast at the same time.

But the price of all this is the scars left on the breast. There is no surgical technique that can lift the breast without leaving any scars yet.
The techniques used leave a scar all around the area where the nipple meets the skin and extending towards the underbreast. This trace continues under the breast in classical techniques and continues along the fold line at the bottom.
In newer techniques, this subtraction is not always done.
We can usually agree that the more flaccid the breast, the longer the marks left will be.

What is the difference between breast lift and breast reduction surgeries? Decapitation and breast reduction? Basically, the only difference is that breast reduction by removing breast tissue in one is only the removal of sagging in the other. Technically, both surgeries are very close to each other.

    Who Should Have This Surgery:

In fact, the surgery can be seen as transforming one aesthetic problem (sagging) into another (scar). Therefore, this surgery may not be preferred by everyone. If the sagging in your breasts is moderate and you think you will be seriously disturbed by the scars, this surgery should be reconsidered before having it. But if you have severely sagging breasts and you think nothing could be worse than this, this surgery is suitable for you. At the end of the surgery, you will have breasts that are straight and shaped, the size you want.

How uncomfortable the scars are is also a very personal matter. My observation is that my patients with truly saggy breasts do not mind these scars as much as I expected. Since I perform this surgery very selectively, I have not had a patient say that they are unhappy with their scars to this day. However, it should not be forgotten that this surgery leaves more scars than other surgeries and the extent to which these scars will be visible will depend on the patient’s healing factors to some extent.
